Where Is the IDR 3 Billion at the Center of the Dispute Between Mat Solar and Idris?

Where Did the Rp3 Billion at the Center of the Mat Solar–Idris Dispute Go?

The land dispute involving Indonesian actor Mat Solar has yet to be resolved. Previously, Mat Solar filed a criminal complaint against Muhammad Idris, alleging fraud and embezzlement.

According to Idris's legal counsel, Dr. H. Endang Hadrian, S.H., M.H., Mat Solar originally purchased the disputed land from Rusli, but the transaction was registered under Muhammad Idris's name. Consequently, Idris refused to release the compensation funds because, from the outset, his legal relationship was solely with Rusli.

"The land compensation amounting to approximately Rp3.3 billion was deposited with the court through a consignment mechanism. Mr. Idris was requested to withdraw the funds," Endang Hadrian told detik.com on September 8, 2020.

He further explained:

"Mr. Mat Solar purchased the land from Mr. Rusli, but everything was registered under Mr. Idris's name. Therefore, Mr. Idris refused to release the funds because his legal dealings were with Mr. Rusli. The matter was still under negotiation."

According to Endang Hadrian, all parties were engaged in negotiations. However, because Idris declined to release the funds to Mat Solar, the actor subsequently filed a criminal report with the Tangerang Metropolitan Police, accusing Idris of fraud and embezzlement.

The fraud allegation was based on Idris's withdrawal of approximately Rp240 million relating to land identified as Girik No. 60 under Herman's name. Meanwhile, the embezzlement allegation concerned Idris's alleged failure to hand over the land certificate (Letter C No. 60) to Mat Solar.

Endang Hadrian emphasized that the dispute actually involved two different parcels of land, and that one of those matters had already been resolved. Therefore, he questioned the legal basis of the criminal accusations.

"Where is the fraud? Where is the embezzlement? Our client never possessed the evidence. Everything remained under Mr. Mat Solar's control. The money is still there, clearly deposited with the court. The land itself—covering 1,350 square meters—has never diminished. Those are the facts established during today's hearing."

He further stated that testimony from the village authorities confirmed that Letter C No. 1242 and Letter C No. 60 referred to different parcels of land with different owners.

The Rp250 million relating to Herman's land had already been settled, whereas the approximately Rp3.3 billion compensation remained deposited with the court through the judicial consignment process.

Mat Solar's Rp3 Billion Land Dispute: A Complete Chronology

In recent years, Mat Solar's name has once again attracted public attention—not for his acting career, but because of a high-profile land dispute. The veteran comedian, widely recognized for his roles in Bajaj Bajuri and Tukang Bubur Naik Haji, has long stepped away from the entertainment industry and is currently battling the effects of a stroke.

Criminal Complaint Against Muhammad Idris

According to reports from Beepdo on YouTube, Mat Solar filed a criminal complaint after claiming financial losses of approximately Rp3.3 billion. Muhammad Idris was subsequently detained, and the matter proceeded through the Indonesian court system.

Origin of the Dispute

The dispute originated from a land mortgage transaction dating back to 1993, when Muhammad Idris mortgaged a 1,350-square-meter parcel of land to Rusli for Rp8 million without any formal transfer of ownership.

As explained by Endang Hadrian, legal counsel for Muhammad Idris:

"The case began when Idris mortgaged his 1,350-square-meter land to Rusli for Rp8 million in 1993 without any formal transfer of title."

Sale to Mat Solar

According to Idris's legal team, Rusli later sold the land to Mat Solar in 2004 for Rp85 million, despite the absence of a formal Deed of Sale and Purchase (Akta Jual Beli/AJB).

Compensation for Toll Road Expansion

The dispute escalated when the Indonesian government acquired the land for a toll road expansion project. Because no valid AJB had ever been executed, the compensation funds could legally be claimed only by the registered owner, Muhammad Idris, rather than Mat Solar.

As a result, approximately Rp3.3 billion in compensation was deposited with the court through a judicial consignment process pending resolution of the ownership dispute.

The differing legal positions regarding ownership, compensation rights, and documentation ultimately became the basis of the civil and criminal proceedings between the parties.
