Land Encroachment Case at North Jakarta Police Allegedly Progressing Slowly Due to Involvement of Makassar Deputy Mayor
A resident of Kebon Bawang, Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, Ms. Ribut Misgiyati, expressed disappointment over what she described as the slow progress of an alleged land encroachment investigation involving her 707-square-meter parcel of land. The case, which she reported to the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, allegedly involves FR, who is identified as the Deputy Mayor of Makassar.
According to Ms. Ribut, the land is part of the estate inherited from her late father, H. Sudarman Syah, and is supported by a registered Freehold Title Certificate (SHM). She questioned why the investigation had remained unresolved for approximately 20 months.
"The land belonged to our late father, H. Sudarman Syah, under a Freehold Title Certificate (SHM) covering 707 square meters. However, it is currently occupied by individuals who claim to be employees of a company owned by Ms. FR, now serving as the Deputy Mayor of Makassar. Before my father passed away in 2012, he asked me to recover the land from those occupying it," Ms. Ribut explained.
Ms. Ribut stated that she had repeatedly met with and attempted to resolve the matter amicably with the individuals occupying the property. According to her, they consistently claimed that they were merely employees of a company owned by FR and had been instructed to occupy the land.
She further explained that she attempted to contact FR directly but was unsuccessful. Subsequently, she served formal legal notices demanding that the occupants vacate the property and return possession of the land to her and the other heirs. According to Ms. Ribut, those efforts did not receive a positive response.
As a result, she filed a police report with the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polda Metro Jaya) in December 2019, alleging unlawful occupation of land and unauthorized entry onto private property. The report named FR and four individuals who were allegedly occupying the land as the reported parties.
The matter remains subject to legal proceedings and investigation by the relevant authorities.
