Abstract

As a consequence of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, which upholds the democratic process, General Elections (Pemilu) are conducted to elect representatives to the legislative body and the President as head of the executive branch. Beyond the objective of selecting representatives for legislative and executive institutions, elections are expected to be conducted honestly and fairly, as mandated by Law Number 7 of 2017 on General Elections.

However, despite elections being held periodically, electoral crimes frequently occur and often hinder the democratic process. This situation is partly attributable to the public's limited understanding of criminal offenses related to election implementation.

The Community Service Team of the Faculty of Law, Universitas Bhayangkara Jakarta Raya, therefore initiated a legal education program for residents of Mekarsari Village, Tambun District, Bekasi Regency, West Java.

Based on these circumstances, the program aimed to improve public understanding of election-related criminal offenses and the legal consequences of electoral misconduct. The implementation of the program consisted of several stages, including preparation, implementation, evaluation, and reporting.

The results of the program indicate that public knowledge regarding election crimes increased significantly. As an additional output, a pocket handbook on election crimes was produced as a practical reference for the community. Furthermore, the implementation of the program was documented in a formal report and published in a scientific journal to maximize both its academic contribution and practical benefits.
